M35g1 starter motor8/31/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() The motor requires large amounts of current, which is why the circuit that connects of to the battery has to be closed by the starter solenoid to bypass the other components. ![]() Starter motor a small but high-torque motor that provides the kinetic energy to get the engine running. Tomorrow I will take a few pictures just for interest to let you all see what I have here. The starter solenoid sits atop the starter motor to make one unit. that I or others can find for this LM35A I have here ? However, this now produces a real mystery for me, as there seems to be no ref. It appears I have incorrectly assumed that a series E / side valve minor starter motor would be the same 3 bolt fitment as my early version of the 918 engine. I am really grateful for everyone's helpful input and information, just goes to show how little I know about the 918 side valve engine.other than my own experience.now needless to say I am really confused, my engine which is a series 1 morris 8 circa 1936 has a three bolt fixing for the starter, I also have several other series 1 engine blocks and they are all the same with a three bolt fixing for the starter, I have one burnt out lucas 6 volt starter (3 bolt fixing) with a thin steel fixing plate and a piggy back starter switch, I then have my recently failed motor which is clearly marked as Lucas LM35A it has a substantial cast iron 3 bolt fixing plate but no attached starter switch (just a live cable terminal on the side for a remote switch).I was told this was a series E 8 starter, but obviously not!
